About the Role
We are seeking a Project Engineer to assist our Project Managers in planning, developing, and successfully managing construction projects from start to completion. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring all works are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Working closely with Project Managers, Estimators, and site teams, you will take lead ownership of Quality Assurance (ISO 9001 standard), documentation, compliance, and trade procurement. This position is ideal for an energetic engineering professional who thrives in a collaborative environment, excels at technical problem-solving, and drives high standards across safety, quality, and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end Quality Assurance to ISO 9001 standards, including Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), testing records, RFIs, as-built documentation, and product realization.
  • Review construction drawings and project specifications to identify discrepancies, variations, or scope clashes early.
  • Support the Project Manager with project planning, construction programming, cost forecasting, and progress tracking.
  • Procure project plant, equipment, and materials in line with project timelines and budget allowances.
  • Facilitate active risk management by conducting regular risk assessments and implementing mitigation strategies in accordance with WHS and project guidelines.
  • Coordinate technical queries, manage RFIs, and secure all necessary permits required to commence and close out project works.
  • Maintain clear, ongoing communication with client engineers, architects, subcontractors, and key site stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular Quality Control reporting and provide weekly progress updates on site activities and subcontractor performance.
  • Help foster a site and business culture focused on engagement, safety, collaboration, and high performance.
Required Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant tertiary construction qualifications.
  • Demonstrated experience (ideally 5+ years) as a Project Engineer or Site Engineer within the Australian commercial construction sector.
  • Robust working knowledge of Quality Management Plans (ISO 9001), Design Management, Safety Management, and Environmental Management Plans.
  • Proven capability in programming, cost control, procurement, and quality assurance processes.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a strong ability to manage relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • High level of software literacy, including Microsoft Office and dedicated project management/programming software.
  • Current White Card, valid Australian Driver’s Licence, and First Aid certification (VESI training highly regarded).
