I enjoyed the work I did very much as I am a hands on person and do not mind helping any staff member or patient when required. I would set up the office every morning pulling out the patient files for their respective clinics. Checked the fax machine and the incoming emails from MECRAP for any information that needed to be passed on to the psychiatry and other medical staff before they commenced work for the day.
I would answer all phone calls to the Primary Health Department and forwarded calls as required or took messages if needed.
I found that some of the management did not know enough about our area of the hospital and did not wish to take the time to learn more about what we did.
The people I worked with have all become friends but there was always a high turnover of staff because of the stressful nature of the job. If you take away the added stress of dealing with drug addicted clients on a regular basis the job was quite easy to do and I found it very satisfying.
