BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) is Australia's largest metallurgical coal miner and exporter. BMA continues to build upon its strong position within the sector by increasing production at existing operations and identifying strong growth opportunities.
The new Caval Ridge Mine has been identified as a quality hard coking coal resource to support BMA's growth options. Located southeast of Moranbah, Caval Ridge Mine is a 9Mt ROM open cut dragline and shovel operation. The new Caval Ridge Coal Handling and Process Plant (CHPP) will have the capacity to produce 5.5Mt per annum. First Coal is expected in 2014. The project is currently in execution phase with construction having commenced in late 2011.
The Caval Ridge Operations team is currently executing operational readiness packages of work in preparation for CHPP commissioning and transition to steady state operation in 2014. As a result we are seeking an Engineer Processing Quality to support the processing team to enable delivery against the plan for safety, volume and cost . This role has a strong operational focus, working with the processing, maintenance and mining teams improve productivity and efficiency within the Caval Ridge CHPP. Reporting to the Superintendent Processing Operations, responsibilities include:
Execution of activities associated with the operational readiness schedule for the Caval Ridge project as per the planned processing operations philosophy
Assist in all facets of plant commissioning
Develop key metallurgical procedures for implementation during steady state operation
Engage and support key stakeholders to improve the performance of the CHPP
Focus on continuous improvement, striving for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic professional who is interested in being part of an exciting new operation. They will be passionate about the development of processes and systems to drive accountability and performance throughout the business.
Ideally you will have the following:
Relevant tertiary qualifications in process engineering or equivalent
Practical experience in minerals processing
Strong communication skills and the ability to interact and influence all levels of the organisation
Demonstrated commitment to complying with the site safety management systems and strategies
Exposure to coal preparation would be advantageous but not essential
This role will be based in Brisbane, and as the project progresses the incumbent will be required to operate on a rostered fly in fly out basis from Brisbane.
