We seek a team-spirited and safety conscious Lifting Technician to join our Lifting Services section to operate our fleet of predominantly Grove Mobile Cranes. Your efforts will contribute to maintaining the integrity of our maintenance standards and procedures for Lifting Services around Mt Whaleback and Satellite Ore bodies in the safest possible manner.

Position Synopsis

Operating in a climate of continuous improvement and with safety at the forefront of your approach, you will assist in maintaining a Safe operating environment and incident free work environment within Lifting Services at Mt Whaleback

Working on a continuous shift roster you will carry out the necessary Lift preparations for work to commence safely.

Reporting to the Lifting Services Supervisor and with an eye on adhering to operating procedures and instructions your key responsibilities will include:

Supporting all areas of the Whaleback Mining & Surrounding areas by carrying out controlled lifts in a safe and timely manner;

Sharing your skills and provide on the job training to other personnel;

Operating ancillary equipment within limits of competence and training;

Personal responsibility to help the team achieve results by taking timely actions with minimal supervision;

Undertaking housekeeping and safety inspections; and

Able to use computerised maintenance computer system GSAP to open and close work orders and carry out time confirmations.

Operating in a climate of continuous improvement, you will facilitate the achievement of an injury/incident free environment through your active participation in safety meetings and site safety programmes. In addition, you will have the opportunity to display your effective team skills as you work effectively with other maintenance and production team members to better understand and manage mobile equipment maintenance.

Skills and Experience

To effectively undertake this role as Lifting Technician you will need a CO (Open Class) Crane Drivers Ticket and be backed up by your experience in the mining industry environment. With an understanding of current maintenance strategies, ideally you will possess experience on Grove Mobile Cranes from 100t to 450t. Experience in truck driving is an advantage with preference to a Multi Combination (MC) or Heavy Combination(HC) drivers licence and a understanding of moving Oversize Loads is an advantage.

To achieve success you will demonstrate a methodical, systematic approach to your work be able to work unsupervised coupled with a strong sense of personal responsibility, excellent interpersonal skills and effective problem solving capabilities.

Location

This is a residential role based in Newman, a town of approximately eight thousand people. It has excellent sporting facilities that cater for a wide range of interests and age groups, a well-appointed shopping centre, and education services to senior level. Relocation to Newman is offered with this role.
