As a member of the Supply Leadership Team within our Western Australian Iron Ore operations, this is a rare opportunity for you to lead a significant and growing inbound logistics operation. It provides an opportunity to enhance your knowledge and experience as part of a highly renowned and energetic group focused strongly on delivering results.
Reporting to the Head of Supply, you will be responsible for all facets of the inbound logistics network, comprising spares warehousing and distribution, inventory management, and bulk fuel storage and distribution. You will be responsible for ensuring outstanding service standards in delivering these functions to our mine, rail and port operations, and for implementing commensurate technologies and facilities. Your remit will extend beyond the 'here and now' to strategic planning in support of projected growth. Your superior communication, project management, and planning skills coupled with your ability to influence senior stakeholders, will be tested as you define and implement growing logistics networks.
Key accountabilities include:
Ensuring safe and efficient operation of our warehouses and fuel facilities;
Driving inventory optimization, with a view to improving inventory availability and stock turns and reducing aggregate holdings ;
Contributing specialist advice on spare parts logistic practices, technologies and processes for incorporation in long term development projects;
Identifying and executing opportunities to improve our warehouse operations;
Implementing our fuel and warehouse network strategies to cater for business growth;
Developing and maintaining relationships with key senior internal customers;
Managing a third party linehaul and storage contractor;
Improving the quality and competence of warehousing, inventory management and fuel staff through better recruitment, training, and leadership of a large workforce across multiple operating location.
Skills and Experience
Strong contenders for this role will have extensive senior management experience in inventory management, warehousing and distribution, and development and execution of supply chain strategies. Demonstrated expertise in managing transport logistics, warehousing, inventory and stock control personnel and activities is essential, as is a track record of implementing culture and process changes of significant scale. You must be able to work across operating sites and functions, developing and influencing people at multiple organisational levels as you drive functional efficiency and customer service.
Ideally you will be tertiary qualified in supply chain management or business, tenacious, and able to demonstrate that you are results-driven and willing to challenge established practices.
