About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Farm Operator to join our horticulture operation near Alice Springs, NT.

This is a practical, outdoor role involving the day-to-day operation and maintenance of a commercial horticulture farm. The successful applicant will work across a range of farm activities including irrigation, machinery operation, crop establishment and general farm maintenance.

We are looking for someone who is willing to learn, can work independently, and is interested in developing their skills in commercial horticulture.

Key Responsibilities

Duties may include:

• Operating tractors and other farm machinery including weed control and spray
• Operating a forklift and handling farm supplies and produce
• Setting up, checking and maintaining drip irrigation systems
• Irrigation and fertigation operations
• Crop planting, training, pruning and general crop maintenance
• Spraying, mowing, cultivation and weed management
• Basic maintenance of farm machinery, pumps and irrigation equipment
• Assisting with harvesting, packing and other seasonal farm activities
• General farm duties as required from time to time

Skills & Experience

Previous experience is preferred but not essential. Applicants with experience in any of the following will be highly regarded:

• Commercial horticulture or farming
• Tractor operation
• Forklift operation
• Drip irrigation systems
• Irrigation and fertigation
• Farm machinery and equipment
• Basic mechanical or maintenance work

A current driver's licence is preferred.

Forklift licence and relevant chemical handling qualifications are an advantage.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is reliable, practical, safety-conscious and willing to learn.

Working Holiday Visa Applicants

Applicants currently in Australia on a Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417 or 462) are welcome to apply.

This position may also provide eligible specified work for Working Holiday Visa purposes, subject to the individual's circumstances and current Department of Home Affairs requirements.

For the right person who performs well and is interested in building a longer-term career with our business, future employer sponsorship may be considered, subject to eligibility, business requirements and applicable Australian migration laws.

Sponsorship is not guaranteed and would be assessed separately.
