What your day could look like
As an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Worker Trainee, you'll play an important role in strengthening connections between health services and community. From supporting individuals and families to engaging in health education, you'll contribute to care that is respectful, culturally safe, and community-focused while learning alongside experienced professionals.
Every day, you'll contribute by:
Supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to access care and feel heard, respected, and understood
Working closely with health professionals to deliver coordinated, culturally appropriate support
Engaging with community members through health promotion and education activities that inspire better wellbeing
Building your knowledge and confidence through hands-on learning, training, and professional development
Let's talk about you!
You're someone who leads with respect, curiosity, and care. You value connection and understand the importance of culture in wellbeing. You stay grounded under pressure, are open to learning, and take pride in supporting others to live healthier lives. This is a role where you can grow your confidence and capability while making a difference you'll feel proud of every day.
Here's what will help you thrive in this role:
A genuine connection to and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and cultures
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with individuals, families, and communities
Commitment to learning and completing relevant health training and development
A current driver's licence and willingness to travel or work across varied shifts
You'll stand out from the crowd if you have experience in healthcare or community services and/or exposure to health promotion or education activities.
Most importantly, you're passionate about supporting your community, strengthening cultural understanding, and creating better health outcomes through compassion, integrity, dignity, innovation, and courage.
In this role, you'll grow your career while helping build stronger, healthier communities through culturally connected care.
