Assistant Accountant – Remote

We are seeking a motivated and proactive Assistant Accountant to join a growing finance team in a full-time remote position.

This is a great opportunity for an early-career accounting professional with 1–3 years’ experience who is looking to broaden their exposure across a range of accounting functions and continue developing their career.

Working closely with an experienced Accountant/Finance Manager, you’ll gain hands-on experience across transactional accounting, reconciliations, month-end processes, payroll support, compliance and financial reporting. We’re looking for someone who enjoys learning, takes initiative and is keen to take on increasing responsibility as they develop.

About the Role:

Your responsibilities will include:

• Processing accounts payable transactions, supplier invoices and payment runs
• Employee expense reimbursements and corporate card reconciliations
• Creating and maintaining contractor purchase orders
• Daily and monthly bank reconciliations
• Assisting with balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and fixed assets
• Supporting month-end journals, closing processes and management reporting
• Assisting with BAS, IAS, FBT and other statutory compliance requirements
• Supporting payroll processing, PAYGW and payroll tax reconciliations
• Assisting with superannuation compliance checks
• Maintaining the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
• Supporting cash flow forecasting
• Resolving timesheet and payroll-related queries
• Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation
• Assisting with year-end processes and external accountant requirements
• Providing ad hoc financial analysis and support to the wider finance team

About You:

This is a fully remote position, and we welcome applications from suitably qualified candidates based anywhere in Australia or internationally.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• 1–3 years’ experience in an accounting, finance or Assistant Accountant position
• A qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce, or be currently working towards completing one
• Broad exposure across accounting functions rather than experience limited to one specific area
• Working knowledge of accounting software such as MYOB or similar
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
• An interest in working towards a professional accounting qualification such as CPA or equivalent
