Who we Are:
Australian Agricultural Company (AACo) is a leading food and agriculture company that produces high-quality Wagyu beef while delivering nature-led solutions at scale. Established in 1824, we’re proud to be Australia’s oldest continuously operating company – and we’ve had plenty of time to figure out how to be the best workplace we can be with the support, training and opportunity you need to shape your career your way. We’re proud of our history and deeply committed to sustainably feeding the future - and we’d love you to be part of it.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking an Operations Manager to lead the care, feeding, and overall operations of Aronui Feedlot. This role is responsible for overseeing cattle husbandry and feeding programs to support optimal growth, while ensuring the feedlot operates efficiently and at full capacity. You will play a key role in driving strong operational performance and supporting the long‑term success of the business.
What you’ll do:
- Lead and coordinate daily operations across the feedlot, ensuring efficient use of people, resources, and infrastructure
- Oversee cattle care, feeding programs, livestock movements, and animal health in collaboration with the Livestock and Feedmill Managers
- Monitor feed allocation, milling, and delivery to support animal performance and welfare
- Support maintenance planning, prioritising breakdowns and preventative maintenance to minimise operational disruption
- Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance, OH&S, and environmental policies, promoting a strong safety‑first culture
- Manage and develop teams through effective training, capability building, and performance oversight
- Coordinate contractors, consultants, and suppliers across livestock, nutrition, maintenance, and manure operations
- Oversee paddock, backgrounding, lick block operations, manure sales, and associated logistics
- Manage operational costs within budget and contribute to business planning and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide regular reporting, audits, and operational updates to senior management
What you’ll bring:
- Proven experience operating and managing a livestock enterprise
- Strong knowledge of contemporary animal husbandry and welfare practices
- Experience working in, or a solid understanding of, beef feedlot operations and grain‑fed production
- Demonstrated leadership capability, with a committed and enthusiastic approach
- High computer literacy and confidence working with operational systems and reporting
- A current driver’s licence
- Tertiary qualifications (or progress toward) in agricultural science or a related discipline
- Previous management experience within a commercial feedlot environment
What we can offer you:
- Competitive remuneration & allowances
- Workhorse and vehicle provided
- Service recognition & employee discounts with preferred suppliers
- Ongoing training and development, both on-the-job and from external providers
