Job Post Details
Lift Operator (Winter 2026) - job post
Location
Full job description
Locations: Perisher | Falls Creek | Hotham
Season Commences: Mid–Late June 2026
Application Period: February – April 2026 (or earlier if filled)
You’re not just operating a lift — you’re shaping a guest’s day
As a Lift Operator, you are one of the most visible and important team members on the mountain. You’ll help guests feel safe, confident, and welcomed as they access the terrain they’ve come to enjoy.
This role blends safety, focus, and outstanding customer service. You’ll be working outdoors in alpine conditions, assisting guests of all abilities, and staying alert in a fast-moving environment — all while delivering friendly, calm, and professional interactions.
If you enjoy working with people, thrive outdoors, and take pride in doing things properly, this could be the most rewarding winter you’ve had.
What You'll Be Doing
- Operating chairlifts, surface lifts, and conveyor lifts safely and efficiently
- Assisting guests to load and unload confidently and smoothly
- Delivering friendly, clear communication with every guest, every ride
- Monitoring lift operations continuously and responding to changing conditions
- Completing daily safety checks and operational documentation
- Setting up and packing down lift stations each day
- Maintaining clean, organised, and safe lift and queue areas
- Working closely with your team to keep operations running smoothly
This Role Is Not for Everyone
We want you to succeed — so it’s important to be upfront about what this role involves.
- 100% outdoor work in alpine weather (cold, wind, snow, rain, sun)
- Standing for long periods and working around moving machinery
- Early starts, weekends, public holidays, and roster changes due to weather
- High levels of concentration, awareness, and responsibility
- Busy peak periods where safety and guest experience must stay the priority
If you love being active, outdoors, and engaged with people — you’ll thrive.
If you prefer indoor, desk-based, or low-interaction work — this won’t be the right fit.
What You'll Bring
- A genuine passion for customer service and helping others
- Intermediate to advanced skiing or snowboarding ability
- Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
- Clear communication and confidence engaging with guests
- Reliability, teamwork, and a positive, can-do attitude
- Availability for the full winter season
Additional Information – Ski / Snowboard Ability
As part of the application process, you will be asked to assess your skiing or snowboarding ability using the scale below. This helps us understand your experience and ensure you are assigned roles that align with your ability.
