Your role

Working from an established workshop, on the tarmac or in the field environment, you’ll maintain a range of avionics equipment on aircraft such as the Eurocopter EC665 Tiger Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter, the Boeing CH47 Chinook, and the Sikorsky UH-60M Black Hawk.

You’ll specialise in the inspection, modification, repair, testing and maintenance of Army aircraft, engines, armament and safety and ancillary equipment.

Your Military duties include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Carry out scheduled and unscheduled servicing, overhauls and repairs to aircraft electrical instruments and electronic systems and equipment
  • Operate and maintain test equipment and special tooling associated with the trade
  • Operate and maintain workshop plant, equipment and vehicles
  • Act as crew members during flight testing to diagnose faults
  • Identify and investigate defects and recommend remedial action in the areas covered by the trade
  • Maintain technical manuals and maintenance documentation for aircraft and related equipment

Salary
In the Army you'll get paid a competitive salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications. Upon commencing training, your starting salary will be approximately $60,517 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation and your pay will increase as you progress through training.

On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $90,919 per annum plus generous super.

Location

Following your initial military training, you could be posted to one of the many Army bases and units across Australia. The majority of these positions are located in QLD, NSW and the NT.

Eligibility
For this role, you must:

  • Be at least 17 at the time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen, and have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English, Mathematics and Science (with a Physics component) and one other subject.
