Odyssey House NSW’s trauma-informed services set us apart as a leader in the support service space for alcohol and other drugs dependency. Our teams help clients to meet their goals and address underlying trauma and mental health issues, while also developing new skills to improve all aspects of their lives.

We provide a diverse range of services to individuals, families and community education. Our services include withdrawal services; one-on-one assessment and treatment by psychologists and counsellors; group therapy; residential rehabilitation; and free education at Odyssey College.

Description:
The successful applicant to this role will be a mature minded, collaborative individual who can juggle a few tasks simultaneously and who will work to ensure the smooth running of Odyssey House NSW Ingleburn or Eagle Vale locations.

Reporting to the Operations and Residential Support Coordinator, this position is part of a 7-day rotating roster made up of day, afternoon, night, and weekend shifts.

The Residential Support Worker works within the Odyssey House NSW Model of Care focusing on the smooth running of the resi463dential program. Duties and include providing psychosocial support, supervision of the self-administration of medication, supporting the residential timetable and ensuring appointments are attended, all while working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure high quality support and treatment for the residents.

Skills and Experiences:
  • Relevant VET qualification or equivalent or working towards.
  • Understanding of or experience with supporting persons with alcohol and other drugs support needs, mental health support needs and/or co-existing support needs.
  • Understanding and/or experience of Therapeutic Community Model of Care.
  • Demonstrable experience working within a residential or similarly complex program or facility.
  • Experience working within a non-government AOD treatment program including particularly experience working within the Therapeutic Community model.
  • Experience with group facilitation.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a team environment to deliver coordinated support.
  • Computer literacy including understanding of MS Office Suite and use of Client Management Systems.
  • Understanding of the principles of the Privacy Act and its practical implementation in service delivery.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implement the principles of WHS.
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain a current Criminal History Check and Working With Children clearance.
  • Unlimited right to live and work in Australia.
  • Hold a current NSW Driver's License.
