About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual who are eager to learn on the job and start their career with Qube as a Trainee Safety, Health & Sustainability Advisor with our Qube Energy team.

As the Trainee SHS Advisor, you’ll be embarking on an exciting journey with Qube Energy. It is more than a role; it’s an adventure in learning and impact in Safety Health & Sustainability, not just in theory but through hands-on, real-world application.

The primary purpose of the role of the Trainee SHS Advisor is to provide Safety Health & Sustainability (SHS) support, education and advice to the Qube Energy SHS Team, North West Operational Leaders and Employees to help achieve Qube’s "BE SAFE" initiatives. This role also assists to control the business risks associated with SHS and meet the standards established by legislation.

Position: Trainee Safety, Health & Sustainability Advisor

Location: North West Supply Base, Karratha (Residential position, FIFO applicants will not be considered)

Status: Full time position with a 2 year traineeship component

Salary: $70,000 including super during the first year, $78,400 including super for the second year, PLUS a Remote Area Allowance!

Duties

  • Provide the site team with leadership and assistance in developing a consistent safety culture and environment across all safety-critical functions.
  • Help demonstrate to statutory bodies that Qube has appropriate safety, health, environment and quality management processes developed.
  • Demonstrate responsible conduct and a positive manner in the work environment to ensure that the organisation is correctly and favourably presented.
  • Assist the business in complying with WHS policies and procedures by identifying opportunities to minimise risk and injuries in the workplace through risk assessment.
  • Assist site personnel in the development of site and task specific risk assessments, operational procedures and work instruction and conduct ongoing reviews of the effectiveness and compliance to risk control measures.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining SHS consultation and communications processes, including SHS Committees, toolbox talks and Safety Alerts.
  • Help monitor site SHS Management Plans to meet the site performance targets and meet the Business and Corporate requirements.
  • Help monitor an inspection and audit programme for the sites, mentor staff in the carrying out of these activities.
  • Help implement the change management standard when processes change on site and ensure that all change management objectives are met and complied with.
  • Carry out document control of Qube Energy documents, following Qube Document Control Procedure and Records Management Procedure.
  • Support site safety advisor and site operational leaders in day-to-day operations.
  • Participate in safety training sessions for staff.

About You

  • A commitment to complete a 24 month Traineeship completing a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety, and other Safety Health and Sustainability related training applicable to role.
  • A willing and commitment to understand safety within the Logistics Supply Chain, Mining & Oil & Gas industries.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
