Turn Your Passion for Art Into a Career
Have you always wanted to become a tattoo artist?
Addikted to Ink is looking for creative, motivated individuals to join our 9-month Tattoo Apprenticeship Program in Melbourne.
Our apprenticeship is designed to give you the opportunity to learn inside a real tattoo studio, work alongside experienced artists, and develop the skills and confidence needed to build a career in tattooing.
A Structured Pathway Into Tattooing
This is a 9-month, hands-on training program with a clear structure designed to take you through each stage of your development.
You’ll start with the fundamentals — learning on practice skin, developing your technique and understanding how a professional studio operates. As your skills progress, you’ll gradually work towards tattooing real clients.
The program is structured this way for a reason: we want you to build strong foundations before moving to the next stage.
Your Apprenticeship Schedule
To give you the consistency and studio time needed to develop, the apprenticeship follows a set 3-day schedule:
Choose one:
- Monday – Wednesday
- Thursday – Saturday
9:00 AM start | Full studio days
The schedule remains consistent throughout the program, allowing you to build a routine, work closely with the team and get the most out of your training.
What You’ll Experience
Throughout the 9 months, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Learn fundamental tattoo techniques
- Develop your drawing and design skills
- Practise on fake skin and build your confidence
- Learn professional hygiene and safety standards
- Work alongside experienced tattoo artists
- Experience the day-to-day environment of a professional studio
- Develop your communication and client skills
- Progress towards tattooing real clients as your skills develop
The Reality of an Apprenticeship
We believe in being upfront about what you’re signing up for.
The apprenticeship is unpaid and requires a genuine commitment to the full 9-month program. Most apprentices maintain a separate job alongside their training.
The first few months are focused heavily on learning, practice and understanding the studio environment. It can be challenging, but it’s also where you build the foundations that will shape you as an artist.
Who We’re Looking For
You don’t need to be an experienced tattoo artist. We’re more interested in your potential, attitude and willingness to learn.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about tattooing and art
- Creative and eager to develop their style
- Reliable and committed
- Open to learning and receiving feedback
- Positive and team-oriented
- Ready to invest time into developing their craft
- Able to commit to one of the fixed 3-day schedules
- A portfolio of artwork is preferred
Where It Can Take You
Our goal is to help develop you from an aspiring artist into a professional tattoo artist.
As you progress through the program and meet the required standards, you’ll work towards the opportunity to become a resident artist.
You’ll be learning in a real studio, alongside real artists, with the opportunity to experience what a career in tattooing is actually like.
Ready to Start Your Journey?
If you’re passionate about tattooing, willing to learn and looking for a genuine pathway into the industry, we’d love to hear from you.
Apply now for the Addikted to Ink Melbourne Tattoo Apprenticeship.
Pay: From $1.00 per year
Work Location: In person
