About You
You are a creative, hands-on individual with a genuine passion for visual arts and supporting young people's learning. You are confident supporting students in practical lessons while modelling safe and correct use of tools, equipment and materials. Organised and resourceful, you take pride in maintaining well-prepared, well-stocked and safe creative spaces. You are genuinely excited to support student creativity each day and hold a Certificate III in Education Support, Blue Card and First Aid/CPR certification.
About the Role
The Teacher Aide – Visual Arts (Junior School) provides support to teaching staff in the delivery of practical components of the Visual Arts curriculum. The Teacher Aide – Visual Arts (Junior School) supports the effective delivery of the junior school’s Visual Arts program by providing technical, organisational, and administrative assistance under the direction of the Visual Arts Teacher and Head of Junior School. The role contributes to maintaining safe, efficient, and well-prepared practical learning environments to enhance student learning outcomes. The role focuses on providing support, enabling the Visual Arts Teacher to deliver the educational program effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and organisation of resources and materials, including setting up of work areas
- Support students during practical lessons, ensuring safe practices under the direction of the Visual Arts Teacher
- Prepare resources and materials in readiness for lessons
- Order materials for class based on list provided by the Visual Arts Teacher
- Support students in correct use of tools, equipment, and safe practices
- Maintain cleanliness, organisation and safety standards of all teaching spaces including equipment and storage areas
- Monitor and maintain consumable resource inventories, including ordering, receiving, and storing materials and equipment
- Purchase of equipment with consideration for budget limitations, as directed by the Visual Arts Teacher
- Accurately process related transactions and expenses through the Therefore accounting system
- Support the Visual Arts Teacher in the supervision of student practical assessments during class
- Promote an inclusive and respectful learning environment, encouraging student engagement and wellbeing
- Ensure adherence to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) procedures and regulations
