Character & Props Designer (2D) | Hooligan Animation

Hooligan Animation is seeking talented Character & Props Designers to join the team on the 2D animated series DEANO.

This contract role is suited to mid–senior artists passionate about creating expressive characters and visually engaging props that support storytelling and world-building.

Responsibilities

• Design characters and props for use across the series
• Collaborate with directors and artists to achieve the show’s visual style
• Produce clean, production-ready turnaround and asset designs
• Maintain consistency across designs and episodes
• Adhere to strict studio file naming conventions and production workflows
• Revise artwork based on creative leadership feedback
• Deliver work to production deadlines and quality standards

Requirements

• Experience in character and/or props design for 2D animation series
• Strong portfolio showcasing appealing design and skill range
• Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop
• Strong understanding of shape language, silhouette, colour and visual storytelling
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment
• Strong communication and time management skills

Location

• This role is fully studio-based at our Brisbane studio.
