Employment Status: Permanent, full time
Days & Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, 38 hours per week (with occasional attendance at afterhours meetings and events)
Competitive Salary: Band 8 - $133,367 – $149,592 (depending on experience) + 12% superannuation
Location: Bayside Gallery in Brighton and Council's Corporate Centre in Sandringham with some flexibility to work from home.

About the Role:
The Coordinator, Arts, Culture and Events provides strategic leadership, governance oversight and professional expertise to deliver Council’s arts, culture and events portfolio. Reporting to the Manager, Arts, Events and Libraries, the role leads planning, program delivery and stakeholder engagement to achieve cultural, community, and public value outcomes aligned with the Council Plan and Arts, Culture, Events and Libraries Strategy.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading a dedicated and high performing Arts, Culture and Events team to achieve the strategic objectives of the Arts, Culture, Events and Library Strategy and relevant actions of the Council Plan
- Prepare and present high‑quality governance reports, briefings and recommendations to the Bayside Arts and Gallery Advisory Committee (BAGAC), Billilla Reference Group (BRG), Executive and Council
- Lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of Council’s major festivals and public events, ensuring safety, accessibility and community participation
- Build and maintain productive relationships with artists, cultural practitioners, community organisations, funding bodies and regional partners
Key Selection Criteria:
To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in arts, culture, community development, museum studies, public administration or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience leading arts, culture and/or events functions, including strategic planning, governance and service delivery
- Proven experience leading teams, budgets, projects and complex stakeholder relationships
- Substantial experience working with community, advisory committees and external partners
- Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline or management and experience working in local government or a similar complex public sector or political environment would be an advantage
Mandatory pre-employment requirements:
- Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check
- Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check
- Be willing to undertake psychometric testing
