Job Description


The role of Biomedical Engineer provides high quality biomedical services to wards and departments, including preventative maintenance, breakdown services and front line support. This will ensure equipment is optimally maintained and clinical staff have the resources required for safe and effective patient treatment – in keeping with Epworth’s purpose of Every Patient Matters.

The Epworth Biomedical Engineering team consists of dedicated engineers with on-site departments at Epworth Richmond, Freemasons (East Melbourne), Eastern (Box Hill) and Geelong. This full-time role will initially be based between Epworth Richmond and Epworth Freemasons with the possibility of assisting at other sites. The successful applicant will be required to work under the management of the Biomed leadership team, based at the Richmond campus.

Once trained and competent, the successful applicant may be required to participate in an after-hours on-call roster, servicing all campuses. The on-call engineer is responsible for responding to urgent breakdowns and emergencies outside business hours.

This is a 12 month, fixed term, full-time parental leave position.

You will make an impact by:

  • Providing high quality biomedical services to clinical wards and departments
  • Performing equipment repairs and preventative maintenance to a high standard in line with manufacturers specifications and Australian Standards
  • Providing excellent customer service to key stake holders
  • Being a team player with strong customer service focus

Qualifications


Essential:

  • A Biomedical Engineering degree, or similar, from an approved tertiary institution
  • Sound technical skills
  • The ability to work independently
  • Time management and work prioritisation skills
  • Strong customer service focus with confident and friendly communication skills

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a hospital Biomedical Engineering department, or similar
  • Accurate record keeping skills using an asset management system
  • Experience in a hospital based setting with exposure to a wide range of medical equipment
  • Knowledge of relevant Australian Standards
