Emergency Medical Technician

Full job description

EMT’s receive direction from the Control Centre in responding to emergency and nonemergency calls. The position communicates with the Control Centre to provide accurate situation reports and information following their response and intervention. The position seeks the input of other colleagues, including EMT’s Paramedics and Intensive Care Paramedics.

EMT’s exchange information and communicate empathetically with patients, carers and relatives, other emergency and community services, clients and customers, focusing on obtaining medical and health information and providing treatment while taking into account any social, cultural, religious, emotional and communication issues. The EMT provides updates to hospital staff, primary care practitioners supplying accurate patient information. This position deals with health professionals, community services, ambulance officers police and other emergency services staff to exchange information, ensuring all patient issues are addressed to facilitate the provision of best possible patient care.
