About the Role

This Ability Care is seeking 2–3 experienced Male Disability Support Workers to join our team and provide person-centred support to an autistic, non-verbal male participant living in Mitcham, SA.

You will work as part of a 2:1 support team, alongside another experienced support worker, delivering consistent, high-quality support while promoting the participant's independence, safety, and quality of life.

This is a rewarding opportunity for support workers who have experience supporting participants with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex behaviours.

Shifts Available

  • 09:00 AM – 3:00 PM (with the possibility of extending until 5:00 PM)
  • Services operate 7 days per week
  • Ongoing, regular shifts available for the right candidates

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centred support in line with the participant's goals and support plans.
  • Implement Positive Behaviour Support strategies and follow Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Support community participation and meaningful activities.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and incident reporting.
  • Work collaboratively with another support worker, family members, and the wider support team.
  • Promote the participant's dignity, choice, and independence while ensuring safety at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting participants with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Experience supporting people with complex behaviours and implementing Positive Behaviour Support strategies.
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Current DHS Working With Children Check.
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificate.
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate.
  • Current unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence.
  • Reliable, fully insured vehicle.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
