Remuneration: 121568 - 125507 full-time equivalent base salary range (+12% super + 17.5% leave loading and salary packaging)

Confirming that for the duration of the contract, up to 30 June 2027, the position will be based at the Child Wellbeing Unit, Wollongong. Should the contract be extended beyond 30 June 2027, the position will be based at an SCHN facility, such as The Children’s Hospital at Westmead or Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.

What you'll be doing

Undertake child protection and wellbeing risk assessments and provide telephone advice, support and education to health workers on all aspects of child protection and wellbeing.

  • A Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences or a related field in line with Level 3 of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award.

  • Substantial experience and high level understanding of child protection dynamics, including the legislative context.

  • Ability to apply advanced problem solving and analytical skills in relation to child protection and wellbeing risk appraisal and decision making.

  • High level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including sound ability with questioning, coaching, negotiation, conflict resolution, team collaboration and developing professional relationships within and across agencies.

  • Sound knowledge of the NSW health sector, support, referral and resource options for vulnerable children, young people and families.

  • Demonstrated experience in accurate documentation and in working across databases and computer software applications.

  • Commitment to actively working as part of a team by demonstrating adherence to values such as accountability, ethical practice, collaboration and trustworthiness in an environment of high and competing demands.

NSW Health vaccination and screening requirements must be met prior to commencement.

This position requires a Working with Children Check (WWCC) issued by the Office of the Children’s Guardian.

Where required, overseas qualifications must be formally assessed by the Department of Education or relevant authority for recognition in Australia.
