Your role

At Allens, our business teams are specialists in their field, using their unique knowledge and expertise to solve critical client and business challenges.

You'll be a part of our Leadership & Learning (L&L) team based in either our Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane office. In this role, you will play a crucial part in driving the adoption and effective use of digital solutions, establishing best practice and embedding digital tools into day-day legal work.

We're looking for a Learning Experience Designer who loves partnering with stakeholders to solve capability challenges. Someone who can collaborate, design, build, curate and influence. Someone who translates complex inputs into practical learning that drives behaviour change.

The role will offer you a dynamic and supportive team and environment, where you'll have the opportunity to directly apply your expertise and experience from day one.

Responsibilities of this role include:

Learning design

  • Design end-to-end digital learning experiences, from needs analysis and learning architecture through to build, launch and iteration.

  • Design and develop visually engaging learning content using modern authoring tools.

  • Facilitate training by leveraging a wide range of learning modalities, e.g., in-person facilitation sessions, virtual training sessions and asynchronous learning, to cater to different learning preferences to ensure impact.

  • Maintain and contribute to design standards, authoring templates and quality frameworks that define what good looks like for the firm.

  • Apply principles from andragogy, learning science and innovative learning design to create experiences that change behaviour, not just transfer information.

  • Measure and assess the effectiveness of learning initiatives using data and learner insights.

  • Act as an SME on content design, integrating external best practice and the latest thinking.

Stakeholder engagement

  • Partner with stakeholders to clarify business goals, learner needs and success measures to co-design engaging learning design solutions.

  • Collaborate with SMEs and teams.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing stakeholder expectations with design quality and delivery timelines.

  • Support and influence colleagues and stakeholders, raising the overall standard of learning design across the firm.

About you

You will have:

  • Solid experience in training, learning and development or related roles

  • Demonstrated experience designing digital and blended learning (beyond elearning)

  • Relevant bachelor's degree and/or postgraduate study

  • Practical experience using authoring and design tools

  • Familiarity with learning management systems

  • Understanding of UX, human-centred design and inclusive design

  • Experience managing projects and competing priorities using structured tools and methodologies

  • Curiosity, creativity and love experimenting with new ideas and ways of working

  • Strong interpersonal skills (i.e., listening, coaching, negotiating, influencing)

  • Ability to navigate a complex stakeholder environment and build relationships

  • A desire to learn, grow, and mentor others

Your development

At Allens, you’ll be supported to grow through meaningful work, stretch opportunities, feedback, coaching and access to high-quality learning. You’ll work with experienced leaders and colleagues across the firm, building your capability, judgement and influence through the work you do every day.
