Job Description
As a Behaviour Support Practitioner - experienced or entry level - you’ll make a real difference in the lives of people living with disability by helping them and those around them. You will focus on enhancing quality of life, reducing behaviours of concern and promoting the rights of people with disability.
You will work as part of a team including practitioners, a team leader and clinical advisors, to support people with evidence-based practice along with developing your own knowledge, skills and experience.
You live in Chermside or a suburb very close to Chermside.
You will also benefit from the School of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), in partnership with MedHealth Academy and the University of Melbourne.
As a Behaviour Support Practitioner you will:
- Support our clients (NDIS participants), along with their families and/or carers, to identify their needs through assessment and person-centred planning
- Identify meaningful goals and practical strategies utilising The Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework, with a commitment to eliminate restrictive practices, in the home and community
- Develop, deliver and evaluate evidence-based support plans within a complex support space
- Ensure individual plans reflect our clients' goals, passions and strengths
- Build the knowledge, capacity and strengths of those who support our clients - family, carers, friends, etc
Why You’ll Love Working for Outcomes Connect Australia
Supervision and Support:
- you will receive weekly 1:1 clinical supervision from an experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner, plus opportunities to join group-based supervisions from the very beginning
- you will be supported by our experienced team of clinical leaders to ensure that your work is guided and supported every step of the way
- you will participate in our national best practice onboarding and learning program, with a focus on understanding the role, the context of positive behaviour support (PBS) and the best ways to support participants
- you will participate in fortnightly learning prepared by Advanced and Specialist practitioners focusing on every aspect of our work, plus have access to our learning library of over 100 resources
Build Your Career:
- you will prepare an individualised Continuing Professional Development (CPD) plan and Supervision Agreement with your supervisor to plan out your journey from 'suitable' or Core or Proficient through to Advanced level of suitability as a practitioner
- you will be supported by your clinical advisor and clinical leadership team to advance in practice specialisation, leadership, case management or any aspect of your work you see as your focus area
- you will be welcome to apply for one of the regular internal leadership positions, short-term secondments or adjunct roles that are available within our team
Team Culture:
- you’ll be part of a values-led team that celebrates your wins and supports you through challenges
- we believe everyone contributes to our culture, from our newest team members to our most senior practitioners
