About the Role


As an Entry-Level Underground Miner, you'll be considered for a range of underground opportunities, including Truck Operator, Nipper, OR General Service Miner, based on your skills, aptitude and operational requirements.

No prior mining experience is required. We'll provide the training, support and development to help you build the skills needed for a rewarding long-term career at BHP.


In these roles, you will gain hands-on experience in:


  • Operating large mining equipment, including Toyota Landcruiser 4wd manual vehicles, trucks, Rock Breakers (Excavator) and integrated tool carriers (ITs)

  • Installing and maintaining critical infrastructure that supports underground operations

  • Working alongside drills and other heavy mining equipment

  • Operating safely in dynamic underground environments, including working at heights

  • Supporting production and underground mining activities

  • Working a 7/7 lifestyle roster (7 days on, 7 days off, 7 nights on, 7 nights off) consisting of rotating 12-hour shifts based at Olympic Dam.

Important Considerations


Some opportunities involve physically demanding tasks, including lifting, pushing and pulling, and all roles require the ability to work safely in an underground mining environment.


As operating manual vehicles forms part of underground mining activities, candidates will be expected to hold a driver's licence / demonstrate the ability to confidently operate a manual vehicle.


About You


  • Minimum 2+ years’ work experience in any industry

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a manual vehicle prior to joining BHP

  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn

  • Team player with a safety-first mindset

  • Ability to adapt to shift work and time away from home
