At SomnoMed, we're a global leader in oral appliance therapy for obstructive sleep apnea, helping improve the lives of patients in over 28 countries. As we integrate connected sensor technology and AI into our next generation of medical devices, we're looking for an ambitious Engineering Graduate to join our Product Development team and help bring innovative healthcare solutions to market.
This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across the entire product development lifecycle, from concept design and prototyping through to manufacturing, regulatory approval, and commercial launch.
What You'll Be Doing
Product Design & Development
- Participate in product design and development projects from new products to improving existing designs and processes.
- Support design optimization using FEA, tolerance analysis, and Design for Manufacturing principles.
- Prototype and iterate designs using in-house 3D printing and machining capabilities.
- Create 3D CAD models and detailed drawings for oral appliance components and manufacturing tooling.
- Work with both the internal manufacturing teams & contract manufacturers to transfer designs into high-volume production.
Testing & Validation
- Execute test protocols for mechanical performance, durability, and biocompatibility.
- Analyse test data using statistical methods; summarize findings in technical reports.
- Contribute to design verification and validation documentation.
- Support root cause analysis for manufacturing or field issues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Quality/Regulatory teams on design control documentation
- Partner with production team to transfer designs from R&D into full production
- Work with Commercial team to understand user needs and competitive landscape
- Present design concepts and test results to project teams
- Support clinical study activities and user feedback integration
What You'll Learn

Within your first 18-24 months, you'll grow from supporting projects to owning components, driving technical investigations, and leading verification activities.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Bachelor's Degree (completed or graduating soon) in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Biomedical Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Materials Science
- Or a related engineering discipline
- Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals, including mechanics, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A genuine interest in healthcare technology and improving patient outcomes.
Bonus Points for:
- Internship, placement, or capstone project experience.
- Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software.
- Exposure to FEA, CFD, or simulation tools.
- Knowledge of biomaterials, medical device design, or human factors engineering.
- Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) or statistical analysis.
- Familiarity with additive manufacturing or 3D printing technologies.
