About the role
The Biomedical Technologist plays an integral role within the Central Equipment Library (CEL), part of the Clinical Engineering Team. As a key first point of contact for internal stakeholders accessing CEL, you will help ensure medical equipment is available, safe and fit for clinical use.
You will support the efficient and responsive operation of CEL through the cleaning, triage, retrieval, maintenance, testing, inspection and acceptance testing of medical equipment. The role requires strong organisational skills, sound judgement, initiative and a practical approach to problem solving, supported by confident administrative, computer and communication skills.
This is a varied role that operates across a flexible roster and may include weekend work.
Key Accountabilities
Ensure that there is an appropriate inventory of medical equipment in wards/departments through twice-daily physical audits
Check-in and out hired and leased equipment and coordinates their return at the agreed period.
Ensure all Medical equipment is clean, electrically safety-tested and ready for use
Ensure all battery-operated equipment remains charged and ready for patient use (in library and local equipment rooms).
Liaise with wards/departments to coordinate priority return of unused equipment to the central equipment library, mainly when there is a shortage
About You
Diploma qualification or equivalent in Biomedical Equipment, Electrotechnology, or a related discipline, or currently undertaking an undergraduate Bachelor of Engineering.
Experience working in an acute hospital environment is preferred. Relevant professional experience aligned with your current field of study will also be considered.
