Join the Endocrinology Research Team at Royal North Shore Hospital and contribute to an innovative research project aimed at improving outcomes for people living with diabetes. This unique opportunity combines advanced data science and clinical research to generate evidence that informs healthcare practice and policy.

Where you'll be working


The position is based within the Research Unit at the Kolling Institute, Royal North Shore Hospital, St Leonards. The successful applicant will work closely with clinicians, researchers, data scientists and multidisciplinary teams across Northern Sydney Local Health District and partner organisations. This role supports the innovative HypoHACS project and provides opportunities to contribute to high-impact clinical research, collaborate with leading academic institutions, and translate research findings into improved patient care and health outcomes.

What you'll be doing
You will lead data management, statistical analysis and predictive modelling activities using large-scale health and research datasets. Working alongside clinicians and researchers, you will contribute to study design, data linkage, interpretation of findings, scientific publications, conference presentations and translation of research outcomes into clinical practice. The role also provides opportunities to supervise students and support research capacity building within the department.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
  • Postgraduate qualification in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Data Science, Public Health, Health Informatics, Biomedical Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.Postgraduate qualification in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Data Science, Public Health, Health Informatics, Biomedical Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Describe your experience working with large clinical, epidemiological or administrative health datasets, including your use of R/R Studio, Python and other analytical tools for data management, statistical analysis, predictive modelling and data visualisation.
  • Provide an example of a predictive modelling or advanced statistical project you have undertaken and explain how the findings influenced decision-making or research outcomes.
  • Provide an example of how you have communicated complex analytical findings to a non-technical audience, such as clinicians, health service managers or stakeholders.
