Manufacturing Engineer — Job Description

Summary

Designs, improves, and sustains manufacturing processes, equipment, and workflows to ensure safe, cost‑effective, high‑quality production and on‑time delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes (assembly, machining, fabrication, testing).
  • Design and specify tools, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and production equipment.
  • Implement process controls, standard work, and poka‑yoke to reduce defects and variability.
  • Lead production troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis (e.g., 8D, RCA), and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Perform capacity planning, line balancing, takt time analysis, and workflow layout.
  • Create and maintain work instructions, SOPs, and process FMEAs.
  • Pilot and scale new product introductions (NPI): transfer designs from R&D to production, run PPAP/qualification activities.
  • Collaborate with quality, procurement, supply chain, and maintenance to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Monitor and analyze production metrics (yield, throughput, scrap, OEE) and drive continuous improvement projects (Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Specify equipment maintenance strategies and support spare‑parts planning.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 2+ years experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role (adjustable by seniority level).
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes (pressing, injection molding, CNC, welding, SMT, assembly — specify as relevant).
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methods.
  • Proficiency with CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, NX) and process documentation tools.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC), MSA, and basic quality tools.
  • Strong problem‑solving, data‑analysis, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or Lean certification.
  • Experience with automation/robotics, PLCs, or vision systems.
  • ERP/MRP experience (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and familiarity with MES systems.
  • Experience with PFMEA, DFMEA, and PPAP.

Pay: $43.32 – $55.21 per hour
