Full job description

As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals according to the café’s menu, maintaining food quality, and ensuring all kitchen duties are carried out in line with food safety and hygiene standards. This role is suitable for someone with hands-on experience in a café or restaurant environment and a strong passion for food preparation.

Key Responsibilities ● Prepare, cook, and present breakfast, lunch, and takeaway items. ● Follow recipes, portion control, and presentation standards. ● Ensure meals are prepared consistently and served in a timely manner. ● Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen areas. ● Store food safely and monitor stock rotation. ● Assist with ordering and checking food supplies when required. ● Support the kitchen team during busy service periods. ● Comply with food safety, workplace health and safety, and hygiene regulations. ● Help minimise food wastage and maintain efficient kitchen operations. Skills and Experience Required ● Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery. ● At least one year of experience working in a café, restaurant, or similar hospitality environment. ● Good knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations. ● Understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements. ● Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. ● Strong time-management and organisational skills. ● Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions. ● Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high food standards.
