About the role

The Business Support Officer provides high-quality administrative, operational and project support across two dynamic business units. The role is responsible for coordinating business unit-wide administrative functions, facilitating key divisional projects, and providing flexible support to teams in response to changing business priorities. By ensuring efficient business operations, maintaining accurate records, coordinating communications and supporting project delivery, this role contributes to the successful implementation of programs and services that benefit the City of Sydney and its communities.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • relevant tertiary qualifications (TAFE, University or equivalent) in business administration, office management, project administration or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience in a business support role.
  • demonstrated experience providing high-quality administrative and operational support in a complex environment, with the ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
  • highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare accurate business documentation and build effective relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and experience supporting projects, coordinating activities and maintaining accurate records.
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience using corporate business systems, including finance, procurement, records management or other enterprise applications.

This is a permanent position. To be eligible, you must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.

The recommended applicant must complete a pre-employment health declaration and a criminal history check.

Applications must be submitted online by 11:59pm, Tuesday 28th July 2026.
