PURPOSE OF ROLE

The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for operating CNC machinery and other joinery equipment to produce high-quality, precision joinery components. This role includes setting up machines for production, interpreting technical drawings, ensuring quality control during production runs, and troubleshooting machinery when necessary. The position also involves assisting with general production tasks and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate CNC machines and joinery equipment to produce joinery components in line with project specifications.
  • Set up, calibrate, and prepare CNC machines for production runs.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure product accuracy.
  • Monitor machine settings during production and make adjustments as required to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with machinery during production runs.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure quality control and adherence to project specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in accordance with health and safety protocols.
  • Assist in other areas of production as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience operating CNC machinery in a joinery or cabinetry environment is preferred but not essential.
  • A strong willingness to learn and develop skills in CNC machinery and joinery is essential.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (training will be provided if necessary).
  • Knowledge of timber and wood materials is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Forklift licence is preferred but not essential.
  • Relevant qualifications or a background in cabinet making or joinery are advantageous but not mandatory.

PERFORMANCE GOALS

  • Ensure precise operation of CNC machines, with a focus on delivering accurate components.
  • Complete machine setup and production tasks within set timeframes to avoid delays.
