Full job description

A high-performing, premium café in Castle Hill is seeking an experienced Venue Manager.

Operating 7 days per week, we have built strong systems, developed a highly capable barista team, established a solid kitchen operation, and created a loyal customer base.

As ownership transitions into its next phase of growth, we are seeking a true operator to take full ownership of the venue and continue elevating performance to the highest standard.

This is not a shift manager role. We are looking for someone who thinks like an owner — proactive, accountable, and committed to maintaining excellence across every aspect of the business.

The Role

This is a full-time leadership role, with full accountability for the venue’s performance across the entire week, including weekends.

You will be responsible for:

  • Driving operational performance, culture, and standards

  • Identifying improvements before issues arise

  • Making confident decisions under pressure

  • Leading from the front and supporting the team on the floor

  • Executing established systems and operational frameworks with discipline

This venue already performs well; your role is to take it to the next level.

What’s On Offer

  • Competitive salary package (based on experience)

  • Stable, well-established business

  • Opportunity for long-term growth

  • Autonomy within a structured system

  • Direct collaboration with ownership

Key Responsibilities

Operational Excellence

  • Lead a fast-paced café environment

  • Maintain smooth, efficient service flow at all times

  • Oversee daily operations and step in during peak periods

  • Ensure the venue is always clean, organised, and presented to a premium standard

  • Manage stock control and supplier relationships

  • Maintain strict food safety and compliance standards

Financial Performance

  • Monitor daily and weekly sales performance

  • Manage labour costs and roster efficiency

  • Control the cost of goods and minimise wastage

  • Understand and deliver on financial targets

Leadership & Training

  • Recruit, train, and mentor team members

  • Lead team briefings and onboarding processes

  • Maintain a strong, positive team culture

  • Conduct performance reviews and manage accountability

  • Work closely with the kitchen team on menu execution and performance

About You

  • Minimum 2+ years’ leadership experience

  • Strong understanding of labour cost, margins, and financial performance

  • Experience leading teams of 5–10 staff

  • Background in fast-paced café or restaurant environments

  • Hospitality management training (desirable)

You are:

  • A hands-on leader who earns respect through action

  • A strong communicator who builds relationships with both the team and customers

  • Proactive, organised, and solutions-focused

  • Commercially aware and detail-oriented

  • Comfortable taking full ownership and accountability
