Rush Roasting Co. is a local café and coffee bean roastery offering all-day breakfast, lunch and quality Australian café cuisine. With a strong focus on great coffee, fresh food, friendly service and a welcoming customer experience, we are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Café Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation and continued development of our café.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on hospitality professional who enjoys leading a team, delivering excellent customer service and ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of a busy café environment.

About the Role

As the Café Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing the daily operations of the business, supporting staff and maintaining high standards across customer service, food service and café operations.

Position Title:

Café Manager

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the café, including front-of-house and back-of-house activities.
• Leading, supervising and supporting café staff to ensure efficient service and a positive workplace environment.
• Preparing staff rosters, allocating duties and ensuring appropriate staffing levels during trading periods.
• Maintaining consistently high standards of customer service, presentation and dining experience.
• Assisting with recruitment, staff training, performance management and ongoing development of team members.
• Managing stock levels, ordering supplies and maintaining effective relationships with suppliers.
• Monitoring food, beverage and operational costs and supporting effective budget and cost control.
• Ensuring the café operates in accordance with relevant food safety, hygiene, workplace health and safety and regulatory requirements.
• Responding professionally to customer feedback and complaints and implementing improvements where appropriate.
• Coordinating promotional and marketing activities to support customer engagement and business growth.
• Monitoring the overall performance of the café and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, service quality and profitability.

Base Salary:

Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 + Superannuation

Skills & Experience

We are seeking a motivated hospitality professional with:

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in café, restaurant or hospitality management.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Ability to organise staff, rosters and daily café operations effectively.
• Understanding of stock control, purchasing and operational cost management.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy, customer-focused environment.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and improving café operations.
• Hospitality qualifications are desirable but not essential where relevant practical experience can be demonstrated.
• Applicants who can communicate in more than one language will be highly regarded, particularly where this assists communication with customers, staff and suppliers

Qualifications:

• Relevant qualification such as Diploma in Hospitality Management or equivalent (preferred but not mandatory with sufficient experience) OR minimum 3 years of work experience in similar setting to substitute work experience.

Job Type:

Full-time (Minimum 38 hours per week)
