Restaurant/Cafe Manager

Full time - $80,000 – $85000 per yearMelo Cafe is a busy, community-focused café in Windsor Gardens known for quality coffee, friendly service and strong relationships with our regular customers. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Venue Manager to lead our front-of-house team and oversee the café’s daily operation. This is an active role for someone who enjoys working on the floor, supporting their team and taking genuine ownership of the venue.

About the Role

As Café Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring each day runs smoothly—from opening and staff coordination through to customer service, stock control and end-of-day procedures. You will work closely with the business owner and kitchen team to maintain high standards while improving the café’s overall efficiency and performance.

Key Responsibilities

● Lead the front-of-house and barista team during daily service.● Deliver friendly, efficient and consistent customer service.● Prepare rosters and manage staffing in line with labour targets.● Train, coach and support new and existing employees.● Manage opening, closing and daily operational procedures.● Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities for growth.● Oversee stock ordering, supplier deliveries and stock rotation.● Complete cash reconciliation and daily reporting.● Manage customer feedback and resolve issues professionally.● Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and organisation.● Ensure food-safety and workplace procedures are followed.● Communicate equipment or maintenance issues promptly.● Support local marketing, promotions and community engagement.

We are looking for someone who:

● Has previous café management or senior supervisory experience (2 years)● Is confident leading a team in a busy hospitality environment.● Has strong barista skills and a sound understanding of coffee.● Leads from the floor and is willing to assist wherever required.● Understands rostering, wage control, stock management and ordering.● Communicates clearly and handles challenges calmly.● Is organised, reliable and accountable.● Builds positive relationships with customers, staff and suppliers.● Takes pride in maintaining high standards.● Holding current AUS work rights and is available to work weekdays and weekends as required.
