    • Barista experience is a plus.
    • Applicants must have a passion for coffee, good food and warm genuine customer engagement.
    • Motivation to take ownership of the position.
    • A key eye for detail.
    • Customer Service & POS: Take customer orders, operate the POS system, process payments accurately and provide friendly, efficient customer service.
    • Providing exceptional, friendly customer service.
    • Taking orders and delivering food and drinks.
    • Building relationships with our regular customers.
    • Maintaining cleanliness and presentation of the cafe.
    • Previous cafe, hospitality or customer service experience.
    • Assisting with food preparation and plating.
    • You will have the confidence to be on your own during designated shifts, mastering everything from the morning unlock to the final wipe-down.
    • 2-3 years of relevant work experience required for this role.
    • Strong knowledge of espresso extraction, grinder calibration, and milk texturing.

Full job description

Matilda Mont Albert is a much loved neighbourhood café in the heart of Mont Albert North. Known for our warm service and vibrant atmosphere, we’re on the lookout for an experienced and enthusiastic cafe all rounder to join our team.

This is a casual position with a mix of daytime shifts during the week and evening service shifts on Fridays and Saturdays. Availability to work at least 1 weekend day per week is preferred.

About the role:

-Deliver warm, attentive, and professional customer service

-Take orders, run food and beverages, and manage the floor with confidence

-Work collaboratively with both FOH and BOH teams

-Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming environment

-Thrive in a fast-paced service while keeping attention to detail

What we’re looking for:

-Minimum 3 years’ experience in a hospitality café environment

-A current RSA is highly regarded (or willingness to obtain)

-A positive, can-do attitude with strong communication skills

-Ability to multitask and stay composed during busy periods

-A genuine passion for hospitality and creating great customer experiences
