Job Description – Chef

Position Title: Chef
Employer: Lil Kitch
Location: Moonee Ponds, VIC 3039
Employment Type: Full-Time (38 hours per week)
Salary: AUD $77,000 – $90,000 per annum plus superannuation, depending on skills, qualifications, and experience. The salary will be determined at the time of appointment within this range.

Position Summary

Lil Kitch is seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to oversee the preparation and presentation of high-quality meals while maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene, and kitchen management standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, cook, and present a variety of high-quality dishes.
  • Develop and update menus in consultation with management.
  • Prepare, season, and cook food in accordance with recipes and customer requirements.
  • Monitor the quality of food throughout preparation and presentation.
  • Estimate food requirements and control food costs.
  • Order, receive, inspect, and manage kitchen inventory and supplies.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels and minimise food wastage.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Supervise, train, and support kitchen staff to maintain efficient kitchen operations.
  • Coordinate food preparation during busy service periods to ensure timely service.
  • Monitor kitchen equipment and arrange maintenance or repairs where required.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment.
  • Assist in developing new menu items and seasonal specials.
  • Work collaboratively with management and front-of-house staff to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the position of Chef as directed by management.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 years of relevant full-time experience as a Chef (or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations, and Australian food safety standards.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to supervise and train kitchen staff.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays as required.

Employment Conditions

  • Hours: 38 hours per week (full-time).
  • Salary: AUD $77,000 – $90,000 per annum plus superannuation, depending on qualifications, experience, and performance.
  • Annual leave, personal leave, and other entitlements will be provided in accordance with the applicable Australian workplace laws and the employee's employment contract.

Pay: From $39.00 per hour
