Full job description

We are looking for an experienced and reliable cook / chef to join our team.

In this role you will be responsible for kitchen production operations in our busy Berwick cafe, preparing breakfast and lunch cafe-style food for dine-in and takeaway customers. The role also includes production for small catering orders for corporate clients in the building. Overtime opportunities are also available when we host after-hours corporate events.

About the Role

  • 35 hours per week
  • Commence as casual contract with opportunity to become full-time
  • Competitive hourly rate based on experience + applicable penalty rates
  • Work independently to manage all daily kitchen operations with the support of a part-time kitchen hand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve fresh cafe-style menu items
  • Independently manage kitchen workflow and daily production.
  • Producing catering orders to a high standard
  • Maintaining food safety and hygiene standards
  • Monitoring stock levels and minimising waste
  • Supporting menu development and seasonal specials
  • Daily ordering
  • Reporting to the cafe owner

Previous experience as a Chef, cook, or in a similar role

Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload

Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen operations

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Reliable, organized, and proactive

Excellent attention to detail and presentation

Availability to work occasional after-hours events
