About the role

MI is seeking an experienced Manager Data Science Products to lead the development of cutting-edge analytics products that shape how we plan, operate and improve our delivery network.

You’ll combine strong technical leadership with a product mindset partnering with stakeholders to move from problem to prototype to scaled, operational solutions. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Griffith.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end delivery of multiple initiatives from discovery and business framing through to operational handover and benefits realisation.
  • Lead and coach a high-performing team to build, deploy and continuously improve data science products and services
  • Translate complex operational challenges into practical analytics solutions (e.g., modelling, forecasting and monitoring) that lift asset performance, identify infrastructure risks, underpin new products/services and improve confidence in decision making.
  • Strengthen and evolve MI’s analytics platform and delivery practices so solutions are scalable, well-governed and reliable in production.
  • Build trusted relationships with internal leaders and external partners, influencing priorities and championing data-driven decision making.
  • Model MI values by supporting team members, sharing expertise and fostering strong safety and leadership practices.

What you will bring

Essential:

  • 5+ years of proven experience delivering end-to-end data science and analytics products in an operational environment (discovery through to deployment and handover).
  • Strong technical foundations in modern data platforms and Lakehouse patterns (e.g., Azure/Databricks/Snowflake) with hands-on capability in Python, SQL and/or PySpark.
  • Experience operationalising advanced analytics/AI models in a repeatable, governed way including monitoring, model performance management and continuous improvement.
  • A product and customer mindset: you can translate stakeholder needs into clear problem statements, prioritised roadmaps and measurable outcomes.
  • Confident leadership and communication skills able to coach and develop others, influence senior stakeholders, and explain complex concepts clearly.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering etc.)
  • Ability to foster a positive and productive relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Current ‘C’ class motor vehicle licence
