Code Black Coffee is seeking our next epic Venue Managers and Assistant Managers to join our leadership team!

Are you a gun barista that wants to step up and lead a small team at an espresso bar in the CBD? We also have a position for you!

Code Black Coffee is simultaneously a laboratory, a creative kitchen, a workshop, and a hub for connoisseurs of the dark art and science of coffee.

We are looking for our next incredible leader as someone who is extremely hands on with a minimum of 2 years solid management experience, some specialty coffee knowledge, the desire to inspire and lead a team (not just be a boss) and who has a genuine passion for providing outstanding service to our great customers.

An epic Venue Manager will have the organisational skills to ensure the smooth running of daily operations in the venue, the dedication to drive profitability and achieve objectives and goals, and the personality to create a vibe that attracts customers to keep coming back again and again.

An extraordinary Assistant Manager will have a strong work ethic and will provide ongoing support to the Venue Manager; as well as motivating the FOH team and taking the lead when required.

The ideal candidate will be able to motivate and lead our team and will need to be able to:

  • Act as constant role model for our team and showcase your professional industry skills in a friendly and genuine manner

  • Ensure the daily service is run to a high standard consistently and efficiently

  • Manage stock control and inventory, staffing and wage costs (prepare rosters, assign specific duties)

  • Identify and determine areas for cost reduction and improvement

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures

  • Manage staff performance, provide constructive feedback as required, identify weaknesses, and provide training as appropriate

  • Encourage a supportive, positive, and fun workplace for all employees

  • Inspire team members with a lead-by-example approach with a positive and energetic attitude

  • Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of both Food Safety and OH&S requirements

  • Develop new and exciting beverage offerings

  • Serve alcohol (RSA required)

  • Be available on weekends, public holidays and busy holiday periods
