Longboat Cafe is a well-established hospitality venue located in the beautiful coastal destination of Fingal bay. We are committed to delivering exceptional food, outstanding customer service, and memorable dining experiences for locals, tourists, families, and group bookings.

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Café & Restaurant Manager to lead our team and oversee the day-to-day operations of our busy restaurant. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate hospitality professional who enjoys leading people, driving operational excellence, and providing exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the café and restaurant.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and maintain high hospitality standards.
  • Plan menus in consultation with the Head Chef, considering seasonal availability, customer preferences, and business objectives.
  • Organise and coordinate private functions, special events, catering, and group bookings.
  • Manage purchasing, pricing, and inventory of food, beverages, and other supplies.
  • Monitor stock levels and implement effective stock control procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, purchasing, sales, and financial transactions.
  • Prepare budgets, monitor operating costs, and maximise business profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, workplace health and safety, liquor licensing, and all relevant hospitality regulations.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor front-of-house and kitchen staff.
  • Prepare staff rosters, allocate duties, and manage labour costs effectively.
  • Monitor staff performance and promote a positive, productive, and professional workplace culture.
  • Handle customer enquiries, reservations, feedback, and complaints in a professional manner.
  • Assist with service during busy periods when required.
  • Work closely with the business owners to support the ongoing growth and success of the restaurant.

About You

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Restaurant Manager, Café Manager, Venue Manager, Food & Beverage Manager, or in a similar hospitality management role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing restaurant operations, staffing, purchasing, stock control, budgeting, and customer service.
  • Experience coordinating events, private functions, and group bookings.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards, workplace health and safety, and hospitality compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, train, and develop hospitality teams.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Sound financial, budgeting, and inventory management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.

Desirable

  • Relevant qualification in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field.
