Full job description

Appetizing Trade - Lox In a Box

Lox In a Box, a Sydney Deli group built around great bagels, house-cured lox, and the kind of hospitality people remember is looking for a Venue Manager to help take the helm of one of our busy cafes

Lox in a Box, a Sydney deli group built around great bagels, house-cured lox, and the kind of hospitality people remember. With venues in Bondi, Coogee, Paddington and Marrickville (and more to come) we are looking for someone to lead the floor, look after a great team, and bring the kind of hospitality people remember to our venue. The role

This is a hands-on leadership role. You own the venue day to day, front of house and the guest experience, and you set the standard for everyone on shift.

On any given week you'll be:

  • Leading a team of around 5 to 15 across service, supervising shifts and being the calm, visible point of leadership on the floor
  • Owning rosters and labour costs, building shifts that match demand and keep us on target
  • Holding the line on service standards, food quality, and the small details that make a place feel cared for
  • Running ordering, stock, and waste so the venue is well set up without over-ordering
  • Coaching your team, giving real feedback, and developing the next supervisors and managers
  • Living our service culture, those small unexpected gestures for guests that we build our reputation on
  • Keeping the venue clean, safe, and compliant, and making sure handovers between shifts are tight

You'll report into our Operations Manager and have the wider group behind you for systems, training, and support.

You'll be great at this if you
  • Have managed a busy café, restaurant, or venue and can run a floor without losing the warmth
  • Lead people well, the kind of manager a team actually wants to work for
  • Read the numbers comfortably, rosters, labour, and stock, and act on them
  • Care about hospitality as a craft, not just getting plates out
  • Stay steady under pressure and bring good energy to a shift
  • Are reliable, organised, and happy to roll up your sleeves alongside the team

Hospitality is genuinely a people business for us, so attitude and care matter as much as the runs on the board.

Why join us
  • A growing group with real venues and a strong product you can be proud of
  • A culture that takes hospitality seriously and looks after its people
  • Genuine ownership of your venue, not a manager in name only
  • A clear pathway to grow, we promote from within and our managers move up
  • The systems and support of a group, with the feel of a place that still cares about every guest
