Clayton VIC | Part-Time | 15–20 hours per week

We're looking for a reliable, experienced and friendly Café All-Rounder to join our small team.

We're a well-established Clayton café with a strong reputation for doing a small menu exceptionally well. With 9,000+ Instagram followers and customers regularly discovering us through Melbourne's food scene, we've built a loyal following well beyond our local area.

We're looking for someone who enjoys both cooking and customer service and is happy to be involved across the business.

About the Role

This is a genuine hybrid role. You'll spend time both in the kitchen and front of house, depending on the needs of the business and the service.

Your responsibilities will include:

Kitchen

  • Preparing and cooking our menu to a consistently high standard
  • Food preparation and maintaining kitchen cleanliness
  • Working efficiently during busy service periods
  • Following food safety and hygiene procedures
  • Helping maintain consistency and quality across our menu

Customer Service

  • Greeting customers and providing friendly service
  • Taking customer orders
  • Operating the POS and handling payments
  • Preparing and serving drinks when required
  • Assisting with takeaway and delivery orders
  • Keeping the front of house clean and presentable

Team

  • Jumping in wherever needed during busy periods
  • Supporting other team members across both the kitchen and front of house
  • Contributing to a positive and respectful team environment

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience in a café, restaurant or commercial kitchen
  • Is comfortable cooking independently during service
  • Has good customer service skills and enjoys interacting with customers
  • Is reliable, punctual and takes pride in their work
  • Can work calmly and efficiently during busy periods
  • Is willing to learn and help across different areas of the business
  • Has a positive attitude and is genuinely a team player

Formal chef qualifications aren't essential. We're open to different levels of experience and backgrounds — what matters most to us is that you can confidently cook our menu, provide great customer service and be someone the team can rely on.

The Hours

This is a position of approximately 15–20 hours per week.

Shifts will include a combination of:

  • Day shifts
  • Evening shifts
  • Saturdays

We're happy to discuss flexibility around university, another job or other commitments for the right person.
