Front of House All-Rounder / Barista

Elwood Bakery & Cafe

Position Overview

Elwood Bakery & Cafe is seeking a friendly, reliable and customer-focused Front of House All-Rounder with coffee-making experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality, excellent customer service skills and the ability to work efficiently in a busy café environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, professional customer service.
  • Take customer orders, answer menu enquiries and make recommendations.
  • Prepare and serve quality coffee and other beverages.
  • Prepare sandwiches, wraps and other café food items to order.
  • Operate the cash register and process cash, EFTPOS and other payments accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming front-of-house area.
  • Restock fridges, display cabinets, takeaway supplies and other items as required.
  • Ensure food is presented attractively and handled in accordance with food safety standards.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning and setting up the café.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Proactively identify tasks that need attention during quieter periods.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous café or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Experience making coffee using a commercial espresso machine.
  • Confident operating a cash register and EFTPOS terminal.
  • Experience preparing sandwiches and basic café food.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently during busy periods.
  • A positive attitude, reliability and a strong work ethic.
  • Good attention to detail and personal presentation.
  • Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends, as required.
