Job Title: Cafe All-Rounder

Reports To: Cafe Manager / OwnerJob SummaryWe are seeking a reliable, high-energy Cafe All-Rounder to join our team. In this role, you will be the face of our business, handling everything from customer service to food preparation and barista duties. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, possesses strong multitasking skills, and is passionate about delivering exceptional hospitality to our community.Key Responsibilities1. Customer Service & Front of House

  • Greet customers warmly and take food and beverage orders accurately.
  • Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system and handle cash/card transactions securely.
  • Deliver food and drinks to tables efficiently with a friendly demeanour.
  • Answer customer inquiries regarding menu options, daily specials, and dietary allergens.

2. Barista & Beverage Preparation

  • Prepare and serve high-quality espresso beverages, teas, and other cold drinks to café standards.
  • Calibrate grinders (dial-in) and texture milk flawlessly for various coffee styles.
  • Maintain and clean coffee equipment, including flushing group heads and wiping steam wands.

3. Food Prep & Back of House

  • Assist with basic food preparation, plating menu items, and carefully packing takeaway orders.
  • Ensure strict compliance with food handling, hygiene, and safety regulations.
  • Clear, wash, and sanitise dishes, cutlery, and kitchen utensils promptly.

4. Venue Maintenance & Stock Control

  • Maintain cleanliness of the dining floor, service counters, and kitchen area.
  • Monitor inventory levels, restock display fridges, and replenish coffee station supplies.
  • Collaborate closely with kitchen staff to streamline orders and handle peak rush hours smoothly.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: Previous experience as a barista or hospitality all-rounder is preferred but not required (on-the-job training provided).
  • Barista Skills: Solid understanding of espresso extraction, milk steaming techniques, and machine maintenance.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build quick rapport with regulars.
  • Stamina & Pace: Ability to stand for long periods and work efficiently under pressure during busy morning rushes.
  • Compliance: Valid Food Handler Certificate (or willingness to obtain one); legal working rights in Australia.
