Macquarie Medical Systems develops MoleMax Skin Cancer Imaging technology and provides tools that support healthcare professionals in skin cancer screening and management. Our goal is to help improve access to effective skin cancer care and contribute to better patient outcomes. Our Skin Cancer Clinics are located at various sites throughout Australia and they utilise our technology to provide screening services to the public.

About the role

We are seeking a motivated and people-focused Melanographer to work at our skin cancer clinic in Ashfield. This is your opportunity to work in a modern clinical setting with cutting-edge digital imaging technology, contributing to life-saving early skin cancer detection programs. The role primarily involves screening of patients for a variety of skin cancers. The role will also support patient and community education, skin cancer prevention and early-detection initiatives, and clinic-based health promotion activities. You will work closely with the broader team across our clinics to make evidence-based skin cancer information clear, practical and accessible.

What you’ll do

· Conduct full-body skin checks and total body photography in accordance with clinic protocols, ensuring clear and consistent imaging for ongoing monitoring.

· Perform follow-up comparison imaging, reviewing current and previous photographs to identify and document visible changes for clinician review.

· Accurately record clinical notes, imaging details and relevant patient information in the electronic medical records system in line with clinic and privacy requirements.

· Deliver health promotion and patient education activities focused on skin cancer prevention, sun protection, early detection and the importance of regular skin checks.

· Provide patients with clear, easy-to-understand information about skin cancer risk factors, sun-safe behaviours and skin self-awareness, while referring clinical questions to the appropriate clinician.

· Support the development and review of patient information resources, clinic handouts and educational materials that support health literacy and informed decision-making.

· Support the planning and delivery of clinic awareness campaigns, education sessions and community health promotion activities.

· Work collaboratively with doctors, nurses, clinic staff and other relevant health professionals to reinforce consistent prevention and early-detection messages.

· Identify opportunities to improve patient engagement with skin checks, follow-up care and preventative health initiatives.

· Assist with local community outreach and relationships with relevant organisations, groups and healthcare providers to raise awareness of the skin cancer prevention and screening services we offer.

About you

• A qualification in nursing, health sciences, dermal therapies, community health or a related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain health information clearly to people from a range of backgrounds.
• Strong computer skills, with the ability to confidently use electronic medical records, clinical imaging systems, Microsoft Office and other relevant clinic software.
• Confident engaging with patients, community members and health professionals in both one-to-one and group settings.
• A proactive, organised and professional approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and contribute to program reporting and evaluation.
• A genuine interest in preventative health, patient education and improving awareness of skin cancer.

Nice to have (but not essential)

• Previous experience in primary care, a skin cancer clinic, dermatology, cancer prevention or another healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of skin cancer prevention, sun-safety messaging and community education principles.
• Experience developing patient education content, health promotion campaigns or community engagement activities.
• Experience using digital communication tools, social media or basic design platforms to support health education.

Salary and level will be based on the successful applicant’s experience and how well they meet the requirements of the position.

Salary Range $80,000-$90,000 p/annum plus Superannuation
