Position Title: Personal Care Worker – Disability Support
ANZSCO Occupation: Aged or Disabled Carer (423111)
Location: Berrimah NT
Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent
Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 per annum + Superannuation

HARMONY HELPING HANDS PTY LTD is a Northern Territory-based disability support services provider committed to assisting individuals living with disability to achieve greater independence, wellbeing and community participation. The organisation delivers person-centred disability support services tailored to the individual needs of participants across Darwin and surrounding regions, including remote Northern Territory communities.

Due to increasing client demand and ongoing operational growth, HARMONY HELPING HANDS PTY LTD is seeking compassionate, reliable and committed Personal Care Workers to join its disability support team in full-time permanent positions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing personal care and daily living assistance to participants in accordance with individual support plans;
  • Assisting participants with mobility, hygiene, dressing, grooming and meal preparation;
  • Supporting participants with household tasks including cleaning, laundry and maintaining safe and hygienic living environments;
  • Assisting participants with medication routines in accordance with care plans and organisational procedures;
  • Supporting participants to attend appointments, community activities and social engagement programs;
  • Monitoring participant wellbeing and reporting changes in behaviour, health or support needs to supervisors;
  • Maintaining accurate progress notes, incident reports and participant records;
  • Providing emotional support and encouraging participant independence and community participation;
  • Working collaboratively with families, support coordinators and healthcare professionals where required;
  • Providing support services in both urban and remote Northern Territory communities where operationally required;
  • Relocating to remote Northern Territory communities for client care and support placements where required by operational needs;
  • Following workplace health and safety procedures, infection control standards and organisational policies at all times.

Remote Community Support Requirements

As part of the role, successful applicants may be required to relocate to remote Northern Territory communities to support participants requiring ongoing care services.

The organisation is seeking employees who are flexible and committed to working within remote community environments when required.

For employees relocating to remote Northern Territory communities for work purposes, accommodation support and company vehicle support may be provided by the employer in accordance with operational requirements and internal company policies.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Minimum Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or equivalent qualification preferred;
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant disability support or personal care experience required;
  • Applicants without formal qualifications may be considered where they possess substantial relevant industry experience;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment;
  • Compassionate, patient and professional approach to participant care;
  • Valid Driver Licence required;
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check required;
  • Current National Police Check required;
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification required;
  • Working With Children Clearance/Ochre Card required.
