Details: The Venues Canberra Operations and Administrative Assistant provides administrative and operational support to the Venue Managers and operations teams at Manuka Oval, GIO Stadium and Exhibition Park in Canberra. The position assists in the delivery and planning of events and functions held at the venues along with the operational, administrative and compliance requirements. Stakeholder engagement and high-quality customer service and resolution of queries often form part of daily duties.

Applicants can be considered for administrative duties only, operational duties only or both.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

  • Previous experience assisting with the delivery of events and / or functions including administrative and operational tasks in medium to large venues;
  • Knowledge and experience using the Microsoft suite of products;
  • Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders;
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, in accordance with agreed time frames, show initiative and prioritize tasks;
  • Understanding of public service values covering ethical standards and a demonstrated self-awareness, professionalism, and a proven commitment to the ongoing integration of workplace respect, equity and diversity work practices and workplace health and safety principles and practices;
  • A basic understanding of implementing risk management and workplace health and safety systems;
  • This role is required to perform regular after hours, public holidays and weekend work in support of events
  • C Class Driver’s License
  • First Aid certification or the ability to obtain first aid certification
  • Operational - Forklift License or ability to obtain a forklift licence (desirable)
  • Operational duties can be hands on and includes manual handling tasks requiring a good level of physical fitness

Note: This is a casual position available from 1 September 2026. The full-time salary noted above will be paid pro rata.
