Primary objective
Deliver support to classroom staff in delivering high quality educational programs for students with additional needs in partnership
with families, community and professional networks to achieve optimal educational outcomes.

Darwin High School (DHS) is a leading provider of high quality, innovative secondary education, preparing students to be successful,
resilient, creative and respectful global citizens. Students receive a high-quality, consistent secondary education with clear
pathways, strong support and access to a full range of specialist subjects across years 7-12. DHS believes in partnering with each
student, offering the support and challenge necessary for them to reach their full potential. We focus on empowering students to
pursue their chosen pathways, interests, and aspirations through a welcoming, safe, and challenging learning environment.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assist teachers to implement educational adjustment plans, individual behaviour plans, health care plans and intervention and
support programs developed by teachers, therapists and senior staff and conduct various assessments to support learning
needs.
2. Contribute to programming and delivery of programs and recording and collection of data in order to assist with effective
communication and processing of information.
3. Participate in classroom activities, outdoor activities and excursions, and deliver programs in one-on-one and group situations,
including involvement in yard duty and community based programs to ensure an effective learning environment and wellbeing
for all students.
4. Manage and complete a range of admin tasks including word processing, photocopying, laminating, and SAMS/Compass entries
in a timely manner or other duties as directed by management and the Study Centre Coordinator.
5. Provide first aid, asthma and anaphylaxis treatment and attend to unwell students as necessary.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven ability to work effectively, positively and independently with secondary year students, including those with special
needs and challenging behaviours and the ability to implement specific learning programs/assessments to students.
2. Proven ability to communicate effectively with secondary year students who have a diverse range of disabilities and proven
demonstration of patience, empathy flexibility and commitment to improve learning outcomes.
3. Ability to work effectively, with limited supervision and flexible team skills, in a fast-paced school environment, such as meeting
timeframes, passing on factual information clearly and representing the school to parents, families and community whilst
maintaining confidentiality.
4. Demonstrated experience in undertaking a range of administrative tasks including word processing, spreadsheets and database
packages.
Further information
The successful applicant will be required to hold a current Working with Children Clearance notice and First Aid Certificate or have
the ability to obtain prior to commencement.
There are seven ongoing vacancies to fill with varying commencement dates. 3 x AO396 positions and 4 x AO3 positions. 1 position
commences ASAP, 2 positions commence 13.01.2027 and 4 positions commence 28.01.2027.
