Full-Time Chef

Location: Homebush, NSW 2140

Employment Type: Full-Time

Hours: 38 hours per week

Salary: AUD 80 000 per annum + superannuation

Bar Cortona is a local, family-run cafe and restaurant located in Homebush, NSW. We are looking for an experienced chef to join our kitchen team full-time.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be required to -

  • Create and plan a 'weekly specials' menu in accordance with ingredients on the stock list, considering seasonal ingredients and estimating price and labour costs.
  • Prepare ingredients, including washing, cutting, portioning and seasoning food for a variety of established menu items.
  • Use cooking techniques required to cook steak, pasta and cafe-style eggs in particular.
  • Order and maintain stock levels for all kitchen supplies, including ingredients, packaging for take-away items and cleaning items daily.
  • Manage a roster and work effectively with a small team of kitchen staff to ensure appropriate staffing based on peak hours.
  • Monitor the quality of dishes being served by ensuring the taste and presentation are of a high standard.
  • Ensure food is prepared, cooked and served in a timely manner, accommodating special dietary requirements where required.
  • Teach and demonstrate cooking techniques to kitchen staff, including how to minimise food wastage and store ingredients appropriately.
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen and work area in accordance with workplace, health and safety and NSW Food Regulation standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • At least 1 year of experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
  • Certificate IV in kitchen management or relevant equivalent qualification

Pay: Up to $80,000.00 per year
