The Gidley Apply Now

About The Venue

The Gidley, tucked beneath the streets of Sydney’s CBD on the corner of King and Elizabeth, is an opulent steakhouse where fine dining meets semi-respectable displays of gluttony.
Guests descend a dimly lit staircase into the Lounge Bar — an intimate haven of plush furnishings and quiet corners. While their table is prepared, they settle in with a stiff drink and soak up the old-school charm before being welcomed into the lavish Dining Room.
Here, guests sink their forks into prime cuts, sip on bold reds, and immerse themselves in the jovial spirit of golden-age hospitality.

About the Role

As a casual Commis Chef at The Gidley, you’ll be a hands-on, reliable and confident chef who thrives in a fast-paced, high-performance kitchen. You’ll take pride in consistency, bring positive energy to the team, and be eager to grow within one of Sydney’s most respected hospitality groups.

Your Day to Day
  • Maintain consistency of all food in line with company standards
  • Embody the company culture and promote it within the team
  • Ensure correct maintenance and cleanliness of equipment and kitchen areas
  • Communicate efficiently with all members of the kitchen team
  • Carry out additional duties required to fulfil the position
  • Be eager to learn, enjoy a bit of banter, and thrive in a team environment
About You
  • Experience in a premium or hatted venue is a plus, though attitude and willingness to learn matter most
  • Calm, confident and attentive to detail
  • Passionate about great food and creating memorable guest experiences
  • Flexible availability
What We Offer
  • Opportunities to grow within a respected hospitality group
  • Staff discounts across all venues
  • Supportive rostering for work–life balance
  • Access to discounted Virgin Active gym memberships
  • Ongoing mentoring, coaching and development
