ABOUT THE ROLE
Lead Jacana Energy in creating and sustaining long-term business value by delivering
customer-focused, reliable, and cost-effective electricity services in a contestable market.
The CEO is authorised to take all reasonable actions, within Board-delegated authority, to
achieve these objectives.
Success in the role is measured by customer and shareholder satisfaction, sustainable
financial performance, and operational excellence, while positioning Jacana Energy as a
retailer of choice and a community-minded organisation.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
What you will be doing:
1. Strategically partner with the Board and Executive team to review and evolve, where
appropriate, Jacana Energy’s vision and strategy.
2. Ensure operational alignment at all levels of the organisation to assure capacity and
capability to successfully execute Jacana Energy’s strategic plan, achieve performance
targets, uplift stakeholder engagement, and deliver customer outcomes.
3. Foster a high-performance, values driven organisational culture built on trust,
underpinned by proactive, diligent, and constructive behaviours.
4. Build and maintain effective relationships with the Board, Shareholding and Portfolio
Ministers and key industry stakeholders
5. Provide future-focused strategic leadership in influencing the energy market, regulatory,
and policy developments to drive continuous value-add to the business, customers, and
stakeholders.
6. Drive necessary innovation and debate amongst senior industry stakeholders to
strengthen Jacana Energy’s value chain, influence and shape required market reforms,
and champion customer outcomes whilst maintaining focus on transforming Jacana
Energy’s operations towards best practice.
7. Protect, enhance, and position Jacana Energy’s brand across the Northern Territory and
broader Australian energy sector.
8. Continually modernise Jacana Energy’s robust risk and compliance and assurance
frameworks including policies, practices, and reporting.
9. Act as a spokesperson for Jacana Energy, proactively influencing and working with key
media personalities, strategically utilising available media channels, industry events, and
public forums to promote Jacana Energy and its customer priorities.
10. Maintain resilient, constructive relationships with customers, the community,
shareholders, and external stakeholders.
11. Uphold compliance with the NTPS and Jacana Energy’s Code of Conduct, NTPS and
Jacana Energy, corporate values and strategies, policies and procedures and regulatory
requirements.
SELECTION CRITERIA
The ideal candidate must have:
1. Proven success in a CEO or executive level leadership position.
2. Exceptional leadership, communication, and influencing skills at an executive level.
3. Experience building organisational capability and leading the successful delivery of
strategy.
4. The ability to balance strategic leadership with hands on approach when required.
5. Strong understanding of the electricity industry, including retail and/or wholesale
markets, with the ability to operate at a strategic level.
6. Sound judgement with advanced problem-solving leadership and critical thinking
capabilities.
7. Highly developed government, stakeholder, and community engagement skills.
8. Strong commercial and financial management skills.
9. Commitment to customer service outcomes and alignment with the Jacana Energy
corporate values of Diversity, Innovation, Honesty, Teamwork and Wellbeing.
You may also have:
1. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
2. Postgraduate qualifications (Graduate Diploma or Masters) in management or related
field.
